Virus taxonomy: This is an easy-to-use website covering virus taxonomy.

 

Protein Data Bank (PDB): This site serves as a repository for all published x-ray crystal (and NMR) structures of proteins. You can download the file and open it using any of these programs: Chimera, PyMOL, or DeepView Swiss-PdbViewer.

 

PubMed: This site is managed by the National Institutes of Health. PubMed is used to access the vast majority of biomedical and other scientific research. 

 

OligoCalc: This site will quickly calculate the melting temperature (TM) of a DNA oligonucleotide, determine its length, or generate a reverse complement. 

MONITORING INFECTIOUS DISEASE OUTBREAKS

Pro Med Mail: This site is managed by the International Society for Infectious Diseases. It is a global electronic system for reporting outbreaks of infectious diseases (and toxins) as they occur around the globe.

CDC Mortality and Morbidity Weekly Report: Described by the CDC as "...the agency’s primary vehicle for scientific publication of timely, reliable, authoritative, accurate, objective, and useful public health information and recommendations."
